In a day and age where blockbuster cinema is largely ruled by comic book films, it's somewhat surprising that the universally loved video game adaptation does not yet exist.
Some would argue that "Silent Hill" came close to hitting the mark, but even that game-to-movie isn't agreed upon as a decisive success. The foundation for a strong film is certainly there, however, and perhaps it'll strengthen even further with the upcoming sequel, "Silent Hill Revelation 3D."
Empire Online has word on the picture, which begins production this week in Toronto. "Solomon Kane" director Michael J. Bassett is behind the lens on the sequel, and it was announced today that Australian actress Adelaide Clemens has joined the cast in the lead role.

In "Silent Hill Revelation 3D," Clemens plays Heather Mason, a young girl who, along with her father, is constantly on the run from a past that she doesn't fully understand. But on the eve of her 18th birthday, Heather begins suffering from nightmares — nightmares that speak to her horrific connection with a little place called Silent Hill.
Bassett described Clemens' suitability for the role on his blog last week, saying of the then-unnamed actress: "I did camera tests yesterday with her and she looks absolutely awesome. I’m sure you guys are going to just fall in love with her. Tough but vulnerable and capable of delivering a knock-out performance."
Clemens is one of two cast members currently announced for the "Silent Hill" sequel, alongside "Game of Thrones" actor Kit Harington.
